Kodak was once the iconic photographic brand before the digital age, but now they are back with a new smartphone Kodak IM5. Kodak partnered with Bulitt Group to introduce the new smartphone. Bulitt Group is already manufacturing special grade smartphones for CAT. Kodak was once the photographic icon, but went out of the business when the digital era started.
Kodak IM5 is a 5 inch 720×1080 HD Android based smartphone running 4.4 KitKat upgradable to Lollipop 5.0. It is a mid-range phone that offers customized easy to use UI rather than the stock Andoird version. When we think about Kodak, only photography comes in our mind. However, this phone isn’t the photography leader, but offers easy photo taking, storing and printing options. It comes with a 13 megapixel camera and a 5 megapixel front camera.
According to Oliver Schulte, CEO of Bullitt Mobile: “This is a phone for consumers who appreciate the value and heritage of the Kodak brand. It looks great, is easy to use and offers real value for money.”
Kodak IM5 comes with 1.7 Ghz Octa-Core Mediatek processor, 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM expandable upto 32GB storage via SD Card. The main selling point for this smartphone easy to use interface to the users who are suffering from complicated options in an Android device.
Here to mention, device isn’t very special considering the competition in the market. Many Chinese smartphone manufacturers are penetrating the market with good features and price. Kodak IM5 is expected to be available for $250, which is quite high for a mid-range smartphone. Let us wait for the availability, it may be the best mid-range smartphone we ever see because Kodak has a legacy of making “Kodak Moments”.
