Nokia to Launch Android Based Smart Phone – Rumours to Reality

There were so many rumours lately that Nokia is going to launch Android based smart phone, but now wait no longer. The new Nokia codename “Normandy” is going to launch soon in 2014. The image leaked on @evleaks shows no hardware shutter button and no camera flash. It is expected to be similar to Nokia Asha mobile series, which are low-cost phones targeted for emerging markets.

It is also rumoured that the new phone will be using custom UI like on Amazon Kindle Fire. It is quite surprising because Nokia was recently purchased by Microsoft and they may not go for Android based device.

For clarification, it will not be having any Google services like Amazon Kindle Fire and fully customized for low-end users. It will provide complete control of the system to Nokia and offer applications to the users.

These all are just speculations because we are not even sure it will be in production or not. If it is made available to the market, you won’t be able to recognize Android because of the customization.

Nokia Normandy project was underway before the Microsoft acquisition and it may be halted if it is not launched before the acquisition process. Nokia users can wait for the rumours to come to reality and pray that Microsoft allow Android based Nokia cell phones.

According to our speculations, if Nokia start offering Android based smart-phones, there is going to be a good competition because the cell phone giant has good will in many markets. Stay tuned to GSM Reviews for latest news on Nokia Normandy.
