Asus Google Nexus 7 Review

Google Nexus 7 is the first 7” inch tablet in Google’s line-up with amazing specifications in low price. Made by Asus with quality in mind, it has already grabbed a good market share in tablet market. There are two versions of Google Nexus 7 tablet; GSM version and non-GSM version. It certainly has taken advantage over Samsung made tablets, but it require more recognition in some markets. The 7 inch display resolution is bright with good pixel density of 216 ppi, comparing with Amazon Kindle Fire 170 ppi and iPad Mini has 162ppi.

Quad core 1.2GHz processor performance is super fast for multi-tasking. It surely has negative points, but considering the price and the features, Asus Google Nexus 7 has an edge over competition. Recently launched, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 has lower specs than Nexus 7. One of the major advantages is quick system updates because of Google tag. Now you can update your stock Jelly Bean 4.1 to 4.2.

Resolution & Display

The 7 inch 1200×800 HD display offers good graphics when you are playing games or watching a movie. It offers decent resolution, but cannot offer 4th generation Retina display in iPad. The sunlight legibility is below average and it might annoy you when you are using Nexus 7 outdoor.

Performance

Quad core 1.2 GHz Cortex-A9 processor with 1GB RAM offers good performance and allows you to multi-task. You can enjoy video downloads, music and browsing at the same time without any lag. Some of the users reported lagging, but it is not confirmed when we tested the device. Nexus 7 definitely competes with iPad Mini and Amazon Kindle Fire HD.

Storage & Space

It comes with 8GB, 16GB and 32GB storage option, but there is no external SD card slot, which is quiet, a disappointment because 32GB version will cost you more. However, it is not a big issue when you have cloud space available from Dropbox.

Build Quality

Design is good with silver lining and grey patterned back that looks more attractive than Samsung glossy plastic, but less attractive than Apple iPad Mini aluminium shell. It has high quality materials and easy to use buttons. There is cornering glass that protects the screen from any kind of scratches or shocks. It is comparatively better than other tablets available in same price.
