Nokia is trying to get a stronger grip on mid-range cell phones race and they have done it with Nokia Lumia 720. Our review is based on personal usage and experience with the new Nokia Lumia 720. Opening the box was exciting because you will feel very good glossy plastic and Corning Gorilla Glass 2 on front. Volume up and down buttons, screen lock button and camera button looks beautiful with White and Yellow skin. At first, you will fall in love with your Lumia 720 look and feel.
The box contains USB Data Cable, USB Charger, Hands Free, Booklets and Nokia Pin to open the SIM and Micro SD card slot. It has non-replaceable battery that performs really well during heavy browsing and listening to music. Without a doubt, Nokia has made an honest effort to make it appealing. However, when it comes to Windows platform, you will be disappointed.
Windows Mobile Vs Android
I made a bold step of moving from Android to Windows after being a big fan of Android for years, though I still use an Android phone. Windows 8 for cell phones is a disappointment for users moving from Android. It lags when you are using facebook application for windows, browsing, using twitter application and other social applications that synchronize news feeds. Nokia Lumia 720 performance goes down with social applications and main features are missing on most of the application. It is not Nokia Lumia 720 fault; it is due to the fact that Windows 8 OS for mobile phones is not mature. Most of the applications are missing from the app store like instagram and many more. Windows 8 platform is a disappointment, but if you never used Android or iOS then it will look awesome to you.
Power & Performance
Nokia Lumia 720 comes with 1Ghz Dual core processor and 512MB RAM, which is low considering the other mid rang cell phones from Samsung. You will feel a lot of lagging on your Nokia Lumia 720 using social networking applications. If this issue is fixed in next Windows Phone GDR3 update, then we can say this is the best mid-range mobile phone in the market. Battery performance is good considering other smart phones and Nokia did will with Lumia 720. You can enjoy endless browsing for continuous 12 hours that I tested using facebook app, twitter and internet explorer. You can watch 5 high quality movies non-stop on your device that gives about 13 hours battery life.
Resolution & Display
It has low pixel density of 217ppi, but it does not matter because Windows mobile OS is designed in a way that you won’t feel low pixel density. Lumia 720 has 4.3 inch screen with ClearBlack display IPS LCD, which looks good. Touch screen is responsive, but you will feel trouble using it in humid conditions. Sunlight legibility is good and it auto adjust the screen brightness in low light conditions. You can view the screen from different angles without losing visibility. There are three touch buttons; back button, windows button and bing search.
Build Quality
Nokia has done well with build quality by introducing high quality plastic and Corning Gorilla Glass 2. Side volume buttons, lock screen button and camera button are perfectly designed. They look attractive on the sides with high quality. However, you will feel sometimes cracky noise when using and holding the phone during long message chats. Micro SD card is unusually operated with a clip like a SIM card on most of the phones these days, which is a good addition.
Storage & Space
Lumia 720 comes with 8GB internal space and Micro SD card option upto 64GB. You don’t have to worry about space because there is an option in settings to store all your media files in SD card. You have about 4.5GB user memory and after installing necessary applications like Skype, facebook, twitter, linkedin, viber and so many others, there is still 4GB space for applications.

Summary
Overall, it is a good mid-range smart phone and Nokia has put a lot of effort in bringing users back to good old days. However, Microsoft looks lazy in coping up with Nokia advancements. There are no frequent updates to the OS, but there is one recently Nokia Amber and Windows Phone GDR3 to follow. You can select the colourful theme from the menu that looks very attractive. You can sync your Google Contacts data on your Lumia phone, but I faced an issue that data did not show up correctly. We liked the Lumia 720 in White and Yellow colour the most. Considering the price, there are not many good options available in this price. Samsung Galaxy S2 Plus is little outdated and having old processor from S2. Nokia Lumia 720 is the best option and definitely a yes in Windows Phone range.
Nokia is the market leader in smart phone with windows platform, i recommend lumia 720 as the features in it are at par with android.
